About Clair!
Clair is a Boulder-based artist and science illustrator who believes that the mundane and the celestial are more connected than we think.
Her journey began in the forests of northern Virginia, where she spent her youth skinning knees in the woods and painting fantastical landscapes in her mother’s studio. That curiosity followed her to Asheville, NC, where she traded her paintbrushes for lab coats to study Chemistry and Biology. Though her art took a back burner during her studies, the "no-cleanup" convenience of digital painting kept her creative spark alive until the pandemic reignited her passion full-time.
In 2020, Clair moved to Boulder to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry. There, the two halves of her world finally merged: she began developing intricate graphics for her scientific research while spending her evenings painting the wonders of the natural world. Today, her work serves as a lens through which the complex beauty of science becomes accessible and awe-inspiring.
A lover of all things green, Clair spends her weekends backpacking or planning her next adventure with her jungle-cat, Kiki, and a house full of plants.
